This past weekend I hopped in the car and took the girls on a road trip. We headed across Texas to Dallas for my college sorority sister’s baby shower.
First things first: Packing. When traveling with the littles I like to be very prepared for my trip. I packed car outfits, dinner outfits, pjs, and baby shower outfits. Then I packed 2 “uh-oh” outfits to make sure if any accidents happened, because accidents happen, that we’d be covered. I also pack a full pack of wipes and diapers as well as all needed bathroom essentials.
I don’t pack any toys for the car ride, but I do pack a few for them to play with in the hotel. And then I make sure we have enough snacks and drinks for the ride as well. I try to reduce the number of stops to prevent a longer car ride for the babies as much as possible.
Our first leg of the trip to Dallas went a bit rough. We left early in the morning, by lunchtime the toddler wanted real food and the baby was ready to eat. So we stopped about halfway to go get food and stretch our legs. Once everyone was full and able to run around for a bit, we finished the last bit of our trip with naps from both girls.
Our time in Dallas was spent jumping on hotel beds and eating dinner with another local sorority sister and her baby girl. And by the end of the night, the girls were super tired so we bathed and went to bed.
The next morning, we woke up early for breakfast and we all got to lay around and play before getting ready to check out our hotel and head over to the baby shower.

The shower was for my Alpha Phi sister having her first baby. I helped plan the shower, so I got there early enough to help to set up. The party went great with good food and games. By the time it was over both babies wore themselves out enough to reach ‘needs a nap immediately’ mode. This benefited our trip home since the majority of it was spent sleeping.
We ended up stopping over a little over halfway home at a Buc-ee’s and everyone got matching shirts to commentate on our first trip together. Also if you’ve never been to a Buc-ee’s come to Texas and put it on your list of places to visit, it’s not your ordinary gas station.
Overall our trip was successful and a great way for all of us to get out of the house. Plus the girls were able to meet my closest friends from college.
